This course offers an exploration ofthe evolution of the American recording industry from its early start in analog technology to today's digital-first, globally connected landscape. Students will trace the rise of major record labels, the shifting dynamics of artist development, and the technological breakthroughs that have redefined how music is recorded, produced, and consumed. Emphasis is placed on understanding the recording industry's infrastructure such as label operations, distribution models, publishing, and digital platforms. The course will also survey the emerging opportunities for artists, producers, and ministry leaders working as independent artists without label backing. Through real-world case studies, industry simulations, and discussion of faith-informed creativity, students will prepare to navigate diverse career paths within the industry.
